The Aberdeen Roughnecks AFC launched our Youth Development Programme in 2014, with the aim of promoting American Football in the community, while hopefully establishing a production line for the talent of the future to reach our senior side.
Our two youth development teams will be at Youth (14-17) and Junior (17-19) level. In terms of coaching, all coaches will be fully qualified through the governing body's Level 1 course, which establishes safety as well as specific technique coaching.
We are always open to new players - if you want to get more information, contact us via our specific youth development Facebook page. In the meantime, you can brush up on your knowledge by visiting the NFL360 website...make sure you're one step ahead when you hit the field!
Keep up to date with all the latest news and goings on via the Roughnecks Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as the News section of the website. Any queries? Contact us via the link at the top of the page.

The Aberdeen Roughnecks AFC are delighted to have formed a long-term partnership with RigDeluge®, a local company that is really keen to work closely with us in order to achieve a successful club at all levels. As part of this arrangement, you will notice that much of our kit will carry their logo and branding - in return, the club has acquired new uniforms and colours, and the Youth side has successfully started their maiden campaign in 2015!
None of this would be possible without their support, and the club is eternally grateful for it. Looking ahead, both parties intend to keep our partnership going for years to come, aiming to achieve success together.
Aberdeen City Council Sports Grants is a funding programme which is open to any voluntary or not-for-profit organisation or club who deliver sport or physical activity within the city. Grants of up to £10,000 are available. Applications are assessed by a selection panel constructed of officers from various services within Aberdeen City Council and at least two external representatives. Recommendations are then put forward to the Education, Culture and Sport Committee who are responsible for accepting or rejecting these recommendations.
The Aberdeen Roughnecks AFC are fortunate to have been approved for one of these grants, under the heading of "Club Development". With this generous contribution from the council, we can proceed with getting the required equipment in place, ready to get both our Junior and Youth teams ready to roll this summer!
