The Aberdeen Roughnecks AFC officially incorporated into an Industrial and Provident Society on the 2nd of April 2014. What does this mean? Well, here is the official definition from the Financial Conduct Authority website:
An industrial and provident society is an organisation conducting an industry, business or trade, either as a co-operative or for the benefit of the community, and is registered under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965.
Now, the Aberdeen Roughnecks American Football Club Limited are duty bound to be run for “the benefit of the community”, and to “promote the sport of American Football in the local area”. As a co-operative organisation, all our members now have an equal say in the running of the club, and any profits that the club makes must be re-invested into our continued growth.
With this exciting development, we are now able to offer club membership to anyone in the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire area! By signing up, you will gain the right to attend the club’s AGM every year, and have your say in what we do going forward. Also, you’ll be kept in the loop of all ongoing developments in regular e-mail newsletters.
Going forward, nothing will change with our player membership offering. By paying your monthly/annual subscription fees, you will be able to compete in the BAFA National Leagues for the Aberdeen Roughnecks with all travel, basic kit and pitch hire costs included. All you need to do is earn your spot on the depth chart!
If you are someone who is interested in the club, or the sport as a whole, why not consider signing up as a club member? For a small annual subscription, you’ll be kept up to date with all the latest goings on around the Aberdeen Roughnecks and the sport as a whole in our country. Also, you’ll be able to make your opinion count at the AGM.
With the start of our youth development programme this summer, we are almost ready to offer youth membership. Your monthly/annual subscriptions, similar to the senior team, will cover all basic costs involved in playing American Football. Don't worry about buying kit - our youth development sponsor, ADC Engineering, have provided the funding for us to get starter packs ordered.
For businesses in the local area, we also offer a membership package, with the same price and offerings as the Individual membership. If your business is looking to get a little more involved, why not consider becoming an official Local Business Partner of the club? You’ll become a member as standard, receive an advert in each match programme, and be promoted on our website amongst other great benefits.
